For Karl-Anthony Towns and Jordyn Woods, the Knicks’ championship run in June created a tight squeeze that threatened to derail their big day. The couple tied the knot on Aug. 15 in Malibu, but the path to the altar was anything but smooth. Towns was busy securing the trophy while Woods took charge of the entire look and timeline.
Woods Took Over the Planning
The pressure was real because Towns was deep in the playoffs. Woods told Vogue that the Finals schedule left her fiancé no room to design his own outfit. Since Karl was occupied with the NBA Finals, he lacked the time to create his own looks. According to reports, “He knew he wanted a Ralph Lauren suit, [and] I took it from there” She didn’t just pick a tie. She coordinated the fabric swatch from her dress designer and sent it to Ralph Lauren to ensure the suit jacket matched perfectly. That kind of detail usually takes months, not weeks.
Most people told Woods she would fail to find a dress in six months. She ignored the noise and hit the ground running. “I made four showroom appointments,” she said. Her first stop was Danielle Frankel, where she found the Italian silk that matched her skin tone so perfectly. The result was three custom looks for the big day, ranging from a strapless ceremony gown to a silk satin slip for the welcome dinner. Although Towns proposed on Christmas Eve in 2025, the actual effort occurred after the final buzzer in June.
A Summer Window That Shrank Fast
The timeline was the biggest hurdle for the couple. Towns knew his job only allowed for a summer wedding. “Karl said, ‘I want to get married this summer,'” Woods recalled. The NBA calendar is brutal, and the Finals run ate up the early part of the season. The pressure to get things done before the season started again was immense.
The guest list proved the event was a star-studded affair despite the rush. Kylie Jenner, Timothée Chalamet, and Justin Bieber were all there to celebrate the union. The couple met through friends in Los Angeles in 2017 and started dating during the pandemic. Now they are a power couple with a ring and a championship trophy. The chaos of the NBA Finals almost cost them their perfect summer, but Woods made it happen.
The Knicks Must Defend the Title
Now the focus shifts back to the court. The parade is over, and the Knicks have a new schedule to face. According to reports, the team faces the eighth-toughest road of the season with opponents holding a .501 win percentage. They have big games coming up, including a Christmas Day rematch with the Spurs. “It won’t be easy for the Knicks to reclaim home court advantage [in the playoffs], but they have the players (and coaching staff) to make it happen in an uber-competitive east,” Daily Knicks wrote. Towns and his team have to prove they can do it again while Woods handles the family life off the court.
