Giants Own NFC East As Eagles Spiral To New Lows

The Giants lead the NFC East at 4-2-1 while the Eagles fall to 2-6. Here is why New York holds the advantage heading into Sunday.

The New York Jets scored 33 points on Sunday and still lost to the Las Vegas Raiders. That result at MetLife Stadium kills any last bit of hope for Aaron Glenn. Steve Serby of the New York Post wrote that there is “no defense for Aaron Glenn” after this mess. The team now sits at 2-6, a record that leaves them dead and buried in the standings. Fans who wanted a miracle on Sunday got a harsh reality check instead.

The Defense That Failed

Glenn built his reputation on stopping the other team, but that superpower is gone. The offense put up a huge number, yet the defense could not close out the game. Serby noted that the loss hurts the hearts and minds of a tortured fanbase. It is hard to watch a coach hired to fix the defense get outscored by a team that is 4-4.

The 38-33 final score shows a breakdown that no one saw coming before the season. A team that gives up 38 points while scoring 33 is not going to make the playoffs. Serby reported that the 2-6 Jets are officially done for this year. There is no way to spin this loss as a step forward.

A Broken Season

When Glenn was hired, people thought he could turn things around quickly. The offense scored 33 points but still lost. The Raiders are not a top team, yet they beat the Jets by five points in a shootout. This loss confirms that the defense is not ready to win games on its own.

Serby wrote that the hope for a season is gone after this performance. The 2-6 record leaves the Jets with little to play for in the remaining weeks. The team needs to find a way to stop the bleeding before the season ends.

The next test comes on Sunday, Nov. 8, when the Jets travel to Kansas City. They face the Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium at 1 p.m. ET. If the defense cannot stop the Raiders, they will struggle mightily against a better team.
