Browns Injury Chaos Opens Doors For Jets Offense

The Browns' decimated defensive line faces a critical test Sunday. Per Yahoo Sports, key players are out, giving the Jets a real shot to bounce back at MetLife.

The Tampa Bay Rays did not just beat the New York Yankees; they mocked them with a song that belongs to the Bronx. After finishing a three-game sweep of the AL Division Series on Wednesday, the Rays blasted Frank Sinatra’s “(Theme From) New York, New York” inside their visitors’ clubhouse.

This was a calculated move to rub salt in a deep wound. According to ESPN, whoever controlled the music knew exactly how to twist the knife for the home team.

A Brutal Celebration on Home Soil

The scene at Yankee Stadium was painful for anyone wearing pinstripes. Per the New York Post, the Rays sang along to the anthem while beer rained down on them. They even mimicked the broom gesture that became a meme after the Yankees swept the Red Sox earlier in the month. Junior Caminero took it a step further by shouting “Da Yankees lose!” while celebrating on the field. The New York Post reported that the team arm-in-arm turned a victory lap into a public humiliation for the Yankees.

Even the scoreboard told a story of missed chances. Victor Mesa Jr.’s two-run home run in the sixth inning gave Tampa Bay the lead for good, as noted by ESPN. The Yankees had a chance to tie it up when Anthony Volpe hit a ball that looked like a game-tying homer. But that play was overturned because a fan interfered with the ball. The Rays will now move on to the ALCS, while the Yankees season ends in a mess.

Judge Watches From the Dugout

Aaron Judge sat in the dugout for the entire playoff run because of a calf injury. He could not play, but he could see every moment of the disaster. Judge told the New York Post that he had “no regrets” about his decision to stay in the dugout. He also admitted to “Just hating every single moment of it” while watching his team lose. This pain is real, and Judge wants to keep that feeling to stay sharp next year.

He explained his mindset clearly in an interview. “So I don’t forget it. I was thinking of missed opportunities this season and this series,” Judge said. The captain knows that the team failed to get the job done. Ben Rice echoed that sentiment, stating that the loss was a failure because they could not win. Rice told Yahoo Sports that the Rays simply outplayed, outpitched, and out-hit the Yankees.

The World Sees the Taunt

The mockery did not stop inside the stadium. Dave Portnoy took to X/Twitter to mock the Yankees with a message about their earlier champagne celebration against Boston. He wrote: “Start spreading the news!!! Congrats to your 2026 Wildcard Champagne Champions, the New York Yankees,” followed by broom emojis.

Yahoo Sports reported that Portnoy made sure to reference how the Yankees celebrated their wild-card win before getting swept by Tampa Bay. The lesson is clear: celebrate too early, and someone will play your song while you pack your bags.
