From 1989 to 1997, over a nine-year stretch, Ewing secured the highest or second-highest MVP vote count for a center on six occasions.. That happened during a time with six different point guards and six different coaches. The styles changed, but Ewing stayed elite. That is not a guess. That is what happened. The current Knicks have that same stability. The national media ignores this history to push a narrative of failure.
