The Giants came out of a joint practice week in Miami and a 26-3 preseason win over the Dolphins without losing anyone for the season. John Harbaugh confirmed as much Sunday, and the most significant name on the list was Josh Ezeudu.

Ezeudu got kicked in the back of the leg during Saturday’s game. Harbaugh said the tests came back clean.

“Not going to be any kind of a long-term injury,” Harbaugh said.

He described it as a day-to-day situation and said he expects Ezeudu to play Friday night against the Jets in the preseason finale.

Ezeudu’s versatility is why this mattered

The injury was minor. What it briefly threatened was not. Ezeudu played 47 offensive snaps in Miami, 58 percent of the total, plus five more on special teams, and he moved back out to tackle in the fourth quarter after spending time inside.

That is the whole point of him. He came into the league as a guard, spent most of his time at tackle in recent seasons, and has been working increasingly at right guard this summer. Harbaugh said the staff has reached the point where they think he can swing between right tackle and right guard, which is exactly the kind of player a team keeps on a 53-man roster.

The staff is deliberately holding him to the right side rather than asking him to flip. Harbaugh compared it to a hitter who is not yet a switch hitter, working one side until the technique is automatic.

Mauigoa and Hood are back this week

Francis Mauigoa returns to practice after sitting out Saturday. The 10th overall pick and the starting right guard left Thursday’s joint practice with a stinger. Harbaugh called it non-serious at the time and has not wavered.

Colton Hood, a fellow member of the 2026 draft class competing for cornerback snaps, is in the same category. He neither practiced nor played in Miami and is expected back on the field this week.

There is one more name worth watching. Harbaugh said it is a possibility that Malik Nabers practices without the red non-contact jersey at some point this week, though he does not consider it necessary yet with the opener still three weeks out.

The timing is what makes it useful

Cutdown to 53 is Aug. 30. That leaves one preseason game and a few practices for players like Ezeudu, Mauigoa and Hood to settle where they stand, and every day missed in that window costs more than it would in early August.

Friday against the Jets is the last look. Ezeudu playing in it would tell the staff more about the swing role than anything a training room report can.
