Losing Breece Hall feels like a massive blow to the New York Jets offense. The star running back is currently listed as week-to-week due to a quadriceps injury. He suffered this setback during the fourth quarter of the recent 31-24 loss to Detroit. It is easy to panic when your leading rusher is sidelined. But the Jets actually have enough talent in the backfield to stay afloat.

Depth Makes the Difference in New York

The roster isn’t empty. While Hall’s absence hurts, the team has reliable options ready to step up. According to Sports Illustrated, head coach Aaron Glenn believes the group is capable of success. He noted that having multiple quality players makes the workload easier to manage. “When you have two good running backs like we have and then you’ve got the other skill players that we have, it’s only one ball,” Glenn said on Wednesday.

The coaching staff isn’t looking for a new veteran on the market. Instead, they are trusting the guys already in the building. Glenn expressed high confidence in the rotation. “I’ve always said with those three guys, I’m good with any of them, and they’ll go out there and make plays for us.” This “by-committee” plan has been the goal since Glenn arrived.

Reliable Arms in the Backfield

Braelon Allen and Isaiah Davis will carry the load this Sunday against Chicago. So far this season, Allen has recorded 19 carries for 61 yards and a touchdown. He has already proven he can handle the heavy lifting as the primary backup. Davis is also due for a big moment. He hasn’t seen any touches yet this year because he has been playing mostly on special teams.

Challenges for the Offensive Line

The real worry isn’t just the running backs. The Jets’ offensive line is facing a massive test. The team is currently dealing with several injuries, including left guard Dylan Parham. Per the Associated Press, Parham is also considered week-to-week with a knee injury. This leaves a gap in a unit that has struggled to protect Geno Smith.

The Jets currently rank as the seventh-worst rushing attack according to reports. They are only averaging 92.3 yards per game. Without Hall, the pressure on Allen and Davis is immense. They must execute perfectly to overcome the lack of veteran stability in the trenches. Against Tennessee in the season opener, Hall’s recent production was impressive, featuring 102 rushing yards and a touchdown.
